THE BAKING SERIES

 

Often an elusive skill to master, baking intimidates many home cooks. But, with a little guidance and practice, you will be baking incredible breads, making flaky delicious pies and tarts and wowing guests with pastries cookies and desserts every time. Classes start at 11:30am on Thursdays and will run approximately two to three hours. 

 

Please remember that we can't offer refunds to classes because our seating is very limited. If you can't make a class, you can send a friend in your place. Email us at least six hours before the class starts and let us know who will be taking your place. Schola is BYOB so bring a bottle or two of whatever you'd like to enjoy while cooking and eating. 

 

Doughnuts & Waffles - Tuesday April 24, 6PM

Warm doughnuts may possibly be the most irresistible food in the world! Doughnut lovers fall into two camps - cake doughnuts versus yeast doughnuts. We'll take a look at these two doughs making some of the classic versions of each from Italian Struffoli and Bomboloni to the ubiquitous glazed doughnut made popular by the Krispy Kreme franchise. We'll also have some fun making savory and sweet waffles on the waffle iron. You can be sure we'll be making the Southern favorite Waffles and Fried Chicken! $49.99  TICKETS

 

The Art of Baking Bread – Thursday May 3, 11:30AM

We'll tackle one of the most rewarding and enjoyable tasks in the kitchen...making bread! Nothing beats that smell! Join us as we talk about leavening agents and different types of flour, bread baking ovens and different techniques of the trade. We'll also bake five different types of bread; Irish soda bread, focaccia, whole grain bread, flat breads and the 'old school' Parker House rolls. $49.99  TICKETS

 

The Art of Baking the Classic Cookies - Thursday May 17, 11:30AM

Everyone loves a good cookie! And once you master a few basic principles, the sky’s the limit on what you can create. The class will work on mixing some of the most basic cookie doughs…the chocolate chip, the sugar cookie, oatmeal and the snicker doodle. Besides baking those doughs, we’ll also look at biscotti, the linzer cookie and mini Gateaux Bretons. We’ll make sure everyone goes home with a box of cookies to share with family and friends. $49.99  TICKETS

Flatbreads & Spreads - Tuesday June 12, 6PM

We will explore the varied styles of flat breads by spanning the world from Sardinia to Norway! The class will make Bazlama, Turkish Flat Bread, a whole wheat Norwegian Flat Bread, Pane Carasau from Sardinia and the Georgian Flat Bread Tonis Puri.  And to enjoy with these freshly baked breads we'll make Garlic Chili Tomato Chutney, Smoked Salmon Spread, Eggplant Caponata and Satsivi, a walnut based dipping sauce. $49.99  TICKETS

 

The Art of Baking & Decorating Cupcakes - Monday July 9. 6PM

The cupcake is a true favorite among kids and adults. Join us as we explore some of the classics while also pushing the envelope with some new and different recipes. We'll make two savory cupcakes - Cheddar Scallion with Whipped Cream Cheese and Italian Meatloaf Cupcakes with Mashed Potato Icing. We'll start to venture into the sweet world with a Maple Bacon Cupcake then make two classic - the Red Velvet and Black Bottom Cupcakes. We'll finish this journey off with a 'for adults only' cupcake - Bourbon Sweet Potato Cup Cakes with candied Pecans. We'll make plenty of cupcakes so plan to take a bunch home! $49. TICKETS
